Une maison étroite dans la citadelle de Bonifacio, à cinquante mètres du bastion de l’Étendard. Trois niveaux, un escalier raide, et depuis la chambre du haut une fenêtre qui donne à pic sur les falaises.
On ne vient pas ici pour le confort d’un rez-de-jardin : on vient pour dormir dans la vieille ville, sortir à pied le soir et regarder les bateaux rentrer au port.

Je suis né dans la haute ville et j’y habite toujours, deux rues plus loin. J’accueille les voyageurs à l’entrée de la citadelle parce que les ruelles sont difficiles à trouver.
